At the time of writing the hotel is dressed for Christmas. We’re fully booked for our Christmas and New Year breaks and our very special Festive Feasting menu is in full swing in the Jockey Bar and Tattersalls Brasserie. Our Bar Team have some amazing seasonal cocktails and, after a dusting of snow, everything’s looking good for a Cotswolds Christmas!
With the gift-giving season on hand, we know that our Gift Vouchers are a popular Christmas present. So if you find yourself wondering when best to use your vouchers or simply want to be early to plan a visit to Broadway in 2023, here’s early notice of some of the key events in Broadway in the year ahead.
Details of the following events are based on the latest information at the time of writing. Please check details, especially if making a journey to visit us.
January
Romantic Breaks with the dog - it’s a trend! After a busy Christmas and New Year it seems that nothing beats the January blues like a date in the diary for a little quality time outdoors together - and walking the dog is the way to go! If you book direct with us there’s no charge for canines - just be sure to book ahead to secure one of our dog-friendly rooms.
February
The arrival of Snowdrops is a welcome sign of the beginning of the end of winter and the Cotswolds is a hotbed (is that a gardening pun?) of snowdrop activity, with gardens such as Colesbourne Park and Painswick Rococo Garden competing to show the most impressive banks of snowdrops. You’ll see them by the side of the road too as you drive around the Cotswolds around this time. If you’re a National Trust Member, it’s good to know that our local National Trust Gardens, such as Hidcote Manor, resume daily opening from the 17th February, 2023.

March
The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway re-opens for the 2023 Season at the beginning of the month. We’re very proud of this volunteer-led, railway on the edge of the village. It offers heritage diesel and steam services on a round trip of 28 miles, between Broadway Station and Cheltenham Racecourse (with Park and Ride for Cheltenham), through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Cotswolds. www.gwsr.com
14th - 17th March
The Festival, Cheltenham Racecourse
Four days of top flight NationalHunt Racing with the Gold Cup event itself as the highlight. The Broadway Hotel bar is one of the places to be and we just love the atmosphere!

Saturday 6th May
Coronation of Charles III and the Queen Consort
We await details, but there is always a special atmosphere in Broadway on Royal occasions and no doubt this weekend will be as lively and colourful as ever. Expect live screenings on the village green and all the excitement of a genuinely historical occasion.
Sunday 24th May
Asparagus Day
With the Vale of Evesham (‘asparagus country’) on our doorstep, asparagus is the star on local menus throughout May (actually the season begins on St George’s Day on the 24th April). The quality of local ‘gras’ is sensational and The Broadway Hotel is the perfect place to enjoy it.
Friday 2nd June
Robert Dover’s 'Olimpicks'
411th year of these country sports, including the notorious shin-kicking event. On Dover’s Hill in nearby Chipping Campden.

9th - 18th June
Broadway Arts Festival
Over 80 events, including the very popular ‘artBEAT’ ON the village green over the first weekend of the festival. Broadway has a long and interesting artistic heritage, involving artists from William Morris to John Singer Sargent. To this day, there’s a thriving gallery scene along Broadway’s High Street.

Saturday 2nd September
Moreton Show – The Countryside in a Day!
One of the biggest one-day shows in the UK. It’s surely no surprise that the rural Cotswolds host an agricultural event on such a grand scale. For visitors, it’s the chance to get to understand the importance of food and farming, meet the animals and indulge, at a spectacular range of retail outlets.

Saturday 9th September (tbc)
Broadway Horticultural & Craft Show
Broadway Horticultural and Craft Show is affiliated with the RHS and run by a local group of volunteers. The event opens to the public at 1pm on the village green, with all the charm and excitement of a local produce show.

Sunday 10th September (tbc)
Broadway Food Festival
Meet local growers and farmers with their best seasonal produce. They’re joined by coffee roasters, millers, brewers, cider makers, bakers, keepers of bees, makers of preserves, and cheesemakers. There are plenty of tasting and cookery demos. Naturally, the Broadway Hotel is at the centre of the action, supplemented by a feast of ‘food-to-go’ on The Green.

Friday 6th – Sunday 15th October

Cheltenham’s Literature Festival is Britain’s oldest, and always seems to attract a stellar line up of TV celebs and literary stars. In recent years, the likes of Bob Mortimer and Paul Theroux have made appearances. Cheltenham is within easy reach of Broadway.
